Sound DBT Services and Treatments

Sound DBT provides DBT therapy to adults aged 19 or older.
DBT treatment includes weekly individual therapy sessions and weekly DBT skills training groups.
Individual therapy sessions are typically scheduled on Fridays during the day. Individual therapy sessions utilize the principles of DBT including  validation, balancing acceptance and change, diary cards, behavioral chain analysis, and help applying the DBT skills to client's individual needs. We also provide between session phone coaching.

Sound DBT provides group skills training  in a series of modules that are offered in sequence throughout the year. The modules are mindfulness and interpersonal skills, mindfulness and emotion regulation, and mindfulness and distress tolerance. The groups meet Tuesday nights from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Mindfulness and interpersonal skills are taught in a 9 week module, mindfulness and emotion regulation are taught in a 10 week module, and mindfulness and distress tolerance are taught in an 8 week module. Training can begin with any module and typically involves completing each module twice. The groups are small which allows for plenty of feedback and time to practice the skills. We sometimes accept clients in our skills training group who have a therapist who is not part of Sound DBT.

At Sound DBT we provide treatment for the following problems:

  • Self harm
  • Suicidal thinking and behaviors
  • Difficulty tolerating distress
  • Emotion dysregulation
  • Relationship and communication difficulties
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder

Sound DBT provides additional help for friends and family of people who are highly emotional or have borderline personality disorder:
We understand it can be difficult to know what to say or do when someone you care about has emotion dysregulation problems and behaves in ways that you do not understand.

Sound DBT teaches people how to effectively interact with someone who is highly emotional or has borderline personality disorder. We help our clients understand the experience of someone with borderline personality disorder and also teach skills to work well with this person, increase their connection and improve their relationship. This is provided in individual sessions.

Payments and insurance:

Sound DBT accepts cash and checks. We do not accept credit or debit cards.

We currently accept Regence and Premera insurance. We bill other insurance providers out of network.
